Serbia were a huge price with the betting companies before the tournament having never even made a final before and now we’ve just crowned them EMF European Champions 2024 after a dramatic penalty shootout victory against Romania.
The Mirza Delibosic hosted the titanic battle between these two and despite Romanian superiority, it was Serbia that took the lead and held onto it until well into the second half. Romania fought back and it looked for all the world that they’d go onto claim another title when they drew level but Serbia had other ideas and started to take control of the game themselves and were on top for the final 10 minutes but couldn’t find a winner.
So we went to penalties and the normally reliable Balogh missed for the Romanians and it was first blood to the Serbs but then they missed and we were back all square, after 22 penalties and some tense moments, Siplacan missed for the World Champions and Serbia were crowned champions of Europe for the very first time.
