The final day of the EMF Champions League started with the quarterfinals. On one of the pitches, NK Kapela faced FC Boromir in front of their loyal fans.

The local team started on the front foot, but FC Boromir had several dangerous, clear-cut chances during the first 10 minutes of the opening half. Only the incredible saves of the Slovenian goalkeeper could keep the first half goalless.

In the second half, FC Boromir found the back of the net twice, in the 22nd and in the 32nd minute. The 2:0 victory granted them a place in the semifinals.

Hungary’s Aramis SE-Mad Dogs played against ECOS in the quarterfinals. Both sides fought strong for the opening goal, but they both failed to convert possession and scoring opportunities into goals. After the final whistle, the match continued with the penalty shootout.

“It was a difficult match; we just passed a strong team. But the important thing is that we won, and we hope to win the next game as well” said Aramis’ Dániel Kiprich after successfully winning the penalty shootout 2:1.

Next up in the quarterfinals were Kazakhstan’s Sairan against Romania’s MAV Continental. Meanwhile on another pitch, Romania’s other team Juventus Sibiu took the field against the Czech Restaurace U Pecků.

Sairan dominated large chunks of the match’s opening half without being able to supply a finishing touch to their attractive football. Against the run of play, it was MAV Continental who opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. The Kazakhstan team’s effort to equalise quickly paid off when Nurzan Abdrassilov’s ball crossed the line one minute later.

Sairan took the lead five minutes later, but as threatened, MAV Continental struck with a brilliant equaliser in the 34th minute, sending the match into a penalty shootout, in which MAV Continental prevailed 4:3.

“I’m so excited. It was a difficult match, but we won. We will play against our friends from Romania [Juventus Sibia] in the semifinals, but we want to win it” said Paulevici Dragan-Robert.

Restaurace U Pecků’s match against Juventus Sibia ended with a penalty shootout as well, after the teams drew 1:1 in regular time. Romania secured a third team to represent the country in the semifinals, after Juventus Sibia won the shootout 4:3.

“We are strong, we started the game very well, we scored, and then we got a goal unfortunately. But we are lucky that we won the penalties. I think all the four teams in the semifinals want to go the final, just like us. It will be tough” said Gabriel Tanase.
