Czech U21 squad dominated the match with their former federal brothers

Czech national minifootball team of U-21 players managed to win also the second match with Slovakia in Bratislava and defeated their opponent 4:2. “We know that quality is on our side. We gave it our everything. It is only fair that we won.“ said the Czech captain Lukáš Haspra.

In August Czech coach Petr Brejla celebrated a triumph 5:2 in Prague, this time he reached a more valuable victory over former federal rival. “I am absolutely satisfied with the result. It certainly was a much more difficult match than in Prague. Slovakia improved especially their defence, we were not able to have goal scoring opportunities, and finally we had a bit of luck. Most of the time it was a close match, but we were more vigorous. We wanted to play more, we had more desire to master the game, which decided. Slovakia, however, was much better than in the summer in Prague.” said the Czech coach. Slovak squad certainly made better performance, but it was not enough to beat the fancied Czech team. “We were motivated for the return match, but I think a lack of preparation revealed. The Czechs are ahead of us in minifootball, we gave it everything, but when you meet with your playmates only the day before the game, you don´t have a chance to beat a team like the Czech Republic.” complained Slovak captain Michal Uhliarik.

Slovak Marian Kvasňovský made an introductory shot at the goal in the fourth minute, but the Czech goalkeeper Václav Šlégr was not caught by surprise. Then the newcomers in the Czech team Adam Kraus and Tomáš Mařík introduced themselves with their shooting attempts. And in the tenth minute the guests scored the first goal – Pavel Blaha gained the ball on the half of the pitch and ran towards the Slovak goal, the goal keeper had no chance. A few minutes later Šlégr lofted a shot from Filip Maník but unfortunately he was not successful against Patrik Mozola a while later – 1:1. Six minutes before the break Blaha shot far away from the goal again and he overcame the Slovak goalkeeper. “I didn´t plan to score two goals, I didn´t go into the game mentally in a good mood, I didn´t expect it. Goals are just icing on the cake, I rather wanted to play well as a team.” recounted modestly striker from Blansko.

Four minutes after the break the Czech team added another goal when – at the corner of the pitch – Matyáš Lafek attacked the home goalkeeper who decided to send the ball into the penalty area where Jan Krátký was standing alone and sent the ball into the empty net. “The second goal in the first half was cheap, as well as the third one at the beginning of the second half. These are the key moments that decide such matches.”, says a rookie in the Slovak jersey Kvasňovský. “We’re disappointed, but for us it is a good experience for the future. We have smart young guys, we must get to know each other on the pitch, we played together almost for the first time, three guys came up to Bratislava right in the morning before the match from Prešov,” said nifty offensive player. In the 45th minute of the game the visitors increased the lead after an action, which has been practiced in the first match of the national team. Adam Širůček passed a high ball to Kraus´s head, who sent it under the crossbar. In conclusion, Slovakia managed to add a consolation. Although Brno defender Michal Mezník kicked the ball from the goal line, two minutes before the end of the match Jakub Ryban scored a goal from a corner kick.

Even so, the Czechs reached a second victory over the equally old Slovak rivals. “The game was different than in Prague, we played right on the day of arrival, we were static, we did not want to run. But later in the game we managed to show our quality. Slovak team made mistakes, they just kicked away balloons that we gained. We had the second half in our direction, we were still holding the ball, we pushed the Slovaks, who tried only counterattacks.” said the defender Haspra from Most. The Czech coach tried four newcomers, alongside the Prague tandem Mařík – Kraus also a Pardubice striker Dominik Čáň and a Brno goalkeeper Dominic Kunický. “Adam Kraus introduced himself perfectly, he crowned his performance by a beautiful goal. I am happy with all the newcomers, they fitted well into the team.” said Brejla.
