Twenty European countries will compete this May at the WMF World Cup 2025 in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. The biggest minifootball event of the year will bring together top-quality players from around the world. The tournament kicks off on May 21, and the champion will be crowned on June 1

Host nation Azerbaijan will lead Group A, where they are expected to dominate against Mauritania, Slovenia, and Bahrain. Reigning WMF World Cup champions Romania will begin their title defense in Group B alongside France, Chad, and Uzbekistan. While the European duo of Romania and France are expected to advance, surprises in minifootball are always possible.

Meanwhile, Hungary, Ukraine, England and Türkiye are grouped together in Group C, ensuring at two European teams will face early elimination. Slovakia, Bulgaria, and Portugal in Group D also guarantee intense all-European clashes.

Montenegro will also look to make a statement in Group E, where they are set to battle Mexico, Thailand, and Costa Rica. Another highlight comes from Group F, where Kazakhstan, USA, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Poland will fight for qualification. All four teams are capable of making a strong run, with Poland, Bosnia and Kazakhstan being dangerous for any opponent.

The tournament’s dark horses could emerge from Group G, where Czechia, Georgia, and UAE will compete alongside Argentina. Serbia, the current EMF Euro champions, find themselves in Group H with Spain, Ghana, and Israel, facing a tricky but manageable path to the knockout rounds.

As the countdown to May 21 continues, minifootball fans can look forward to an exciting tournament in Baku, where their teams will battle for the ultimate glory in the small-sided game.
