The UKMA is delighted to highlight FAD FC (Football’s Awareness of Depression Football Community), who have just joined us as members. The organisation – based in Sheffield – is working with people with mental health issues in football.

Founder Caroline Elwood-Stokes says that FAD FC have got a busy few months ahead, including a rather important date in June. One of the things that FADFC do is run a team and that side will compete at the UK 6 a side Football Championships and Caroline cannot wait: “It’s an amazing opportunity! So exciting!”

Elsewhere there is no let up from Caroline and her team as she explained: “I now run Football sessions for the NHS (pictured), and have meeting tomorrow with a Street Drinkers Charity. I’m hoping to run 5 a-side sessions for street drinkers.”

But she’s far from stopping there, saying the organisation is looking expanding into Mexico, where one of her aims is to record an album: “Another possible project I’m in talks about with a contact in Mexico is recording an Album – Football related songs, but which are Promoting positive mental health (uplifting songs etc), but this is not yet confirmed.”
