First half of July brought us national championships in Slovakia and in the Czech Republic. After many great games, we have got champions of both countries. Slovakia has a brand new champion Banco Casino Pezinok. In the Czech Republic, BKMK Brno rewrote history and won the national championship for the 3rd time.
Champion vs Challenger
In Slovakia, we were witnesses of the final, where Banco Casino Pezinok challenged ASGuard – Bodva Sport Club Košice, which won the Slovak championship in 2022 and 2021. Many people maybe thought that it will be a hattrick for ASGuard, but Banco Casino did not accept that and after win 2:0 took the gold with them. In the 3rd place game met two clubs from Banská Bystrica, where was championship held. In a thrilling match Bianconeri Banská Bystrica won against Galacticos Banská Bystrica 2:1 after penalty shootout.
In a category 40+, Túlavé Citróny Nitra became the champion of Slovakia. They beat FC Teraz Bytča 1:0. For the team from Bytča it was second unsuccessful final in 2 years. Bronze medal game was between previous champion Partizán Bardejov and EUROTEAM Zvolen. Underdog was not in the shadow this time. EUROTEAM won 2:1 and ended up in the 3rd place.
History has been rewritten
National championship in the Czech Republic took a place in Ostrava. It was almost a dream story, because home team Ostravský Zábřeh made it to the final. But the opponent was more than tough. BKMK Brno won the title two times before and they surely had an ambition to added third one. And they did. BKMK proved that they are one of the best teams in the Czech Republic and won 2:0. They are the first team in the country, which won national championship for the 3rd time.
The 3rd place match was interesting to watch as well. TFT Edera Pardubice beat Eagles Polabí Kolín 2:1. Everything was prepared for the penalty shootout, but players from Pardubice rejected that. They score a game winning goal with just a one minute left. That of course means that they clinched 3rd spot in the standings and took the bronze.
