For the first time in the European Minifootball Federation’s history, at the Mini4EU Festival players are not going to represent their teams or nations, but their towns. The preliminary competitions took place in dozens of cities across Europe during the last months. Each city will send a team to represent it to the Mini4EU Festival finals in Székesfehérvár, in total over 1000 players are expected to play.

Few days before the start of the Minifootball Cities Festival the list of teams is almost complete. The organizers are expecting around 50 cities to participate during the 10 days of the minifootball fiesta. Cities from 18 different countries have already registered for the different tournaments of the event.

Countries well-known for their minifootball successes will be certainly represented in Hungary this and next week. Seven of the best eight teams having taken part in the EURO 2018 will participate in the Men’s, Women’s, Youth’s and Challenged Cities Cup with several teams: Bosnia Hercegovina (Tuzla, Duga Novi Travnik), the Czech Republic (Brno, Most, Chomutov), England (Manchester), Montenegro (Pogdorgica), Romania (Deva, Drobeta), Serbia (Šabac, Novi Sad, Belgrade) and Ukraine (Kiev, Kharkiv, Rivne). Former EMF Euro Champions Russia will also be represented by their team from Moscow.

Teams representing Hungary at the Men’s Cities Cup will have a preliminary qualification tournament on the 22nd and 23rd of September. One of the organisers responsible for the event said they are expecting 30-32 teams to participate on both days of the qualification round. Each day the best team representing a Hungarian city will qualify to the Men’s Cities Cup finals – taking place from the 27th till the 29th of September.

Women’s Cities Cup will happen in parallel, on the 28th and 29th, while all this will be proceeded by the U23 Cities Cup on the 20th and 21st.
