The road to the last-16

By the end of Saturday, EMF Champions League’s last 16 teams were confirmed.

Both Hungarian teams, Szigetszentmiklós 4IG and Árpád FC succeeded in beating their opponents during the qualification matches and progressed to the last-32 round. Newcomer Israeli team, Mexicans, won their respective game too against Julius Meinl & Paper Moon in a penalty shootout after a 1:1 in regular time.

Lev Ins Sofia of Czech Republic has also qualified to the next round after winning a penalty shootout 3:1. Czech team Restaurace u Pecků Praha beat Active Commerce Sofia 3:0 to proceed. While from the Croatian derby CB Kula came out victorious after defeating MNK BILJEVEC 2:1. Recambios Pando walked into the round of 32 almost effortlessly, after winning their match against Ostravský Zábřeh 4:1.

After all the qualification matches have finished, a quick draw decided the pairs of the upcoming last-32 phase. The most exciting outcome of the draw was the repeat of last year’s Champions League final between Aramis Mad Dogs and Juventus Sibiu.

This time Juventus Sibiu could retaliate for last year’s defeat by winning the penalty shootouts after a goalless regular time. Saturday afternoon wasn’t kind to the Hungarian teams. Poland’s Dentim Clinic Katowice confidently beat Árpád FC 8:1, and Szigetszentmiklós 4IG also got defeated by ECOS 4:1.

On the other hand, Romanian teams lived up to the expectations. FC Boromir Ramnicu Valcea progressed to the last-16 after a 1:0 win against MFK Karampana. Meanwhile three Romanina teams, CS Luceafarul Cluj Napoca, Old Boys and MAV Glissando’s places between the best 16 teams were secured by victorious penalty shootouts.

Tiki Taka Warszawa, representing Poland, has joined Dentim Clinic in the round of 16 by winning 1:0 against Polimark Unisol Group. In one of the last games of the day, Mexicans beat Sunnyland to join the others tomorrow morning.

The matches of the last 16 stage will start at 9 a.m., Sunday morning. And the day will finish with the final of EMF Champions League 2017 in the evening.
