Turkey is represented by 1 team in the EMF Champions League, El Turco but this is only the beginning for the country. We spoke to Caki Simrooğlu who analyzed the background of the Turkish team.
– Has the European Minifootball Federation changed the perspective of the way you think of your favorite sport, minifootball?
Yes, a lot. In Turkey, there is a big passion for minifootball, exactly like in Europe. You can see children playing football in the streets anywhere. We always play 7 aside football, minifootball and through the European Minifootball Federation, it became more than a game, more than just playing for fun. Now it’s a culture, it’s passion. EMF created us a big window where we can show ourselves. Players are trying to play better minifootball now. So, there is a big difference already and i think it’s just a beginning.
– What are your personal goals for the EMF Champions League?
To win games and score goals of course! Hahaha…I hope we can go through group stages…
– Playing the EMF Champions League means a lot for an amateur player?
Of course. I dont know what the other countries do, but in Turkey, there is a huge competition to make it to EMF tournaments. People go 100% and play with full passion in order to win the league. I know we are not so successful in the EMF Euro so far, but we will get there soon!
