The miniEURO has already become history and all National Teams should “study” their conclusions and try to solve the problems in order to improve themselves for the future.
Making some critics in bullet points about the Greek National Team:
* Greece played in total 4 matches and the 3 of them were against the 3 teams that reached the semifinals: Germany, Slovenia, Romania.
*Greece managed to score only in 1 out of the 4 matches, against Lithuania (5-0).
* Greece played an amazing match on tactical level, the first one against Lithuania, and achieved the biggest ever win, but after this match it lost its concentration.
* Greece had a draw against Slovenia (0-0) and a defeat against Romania (1-0) that were the two teams that played the final, and in both games the statistics showed that it played better: Bigger ball possession, more passes, more chances, more shoots on target.
* Greece has serious problem in scoring. Alexis Karatis was injured before the miniEURO 2014 and the player that usually scores was not there to give solutions. The other two players that usually score too, Leonidas Papadopoulos and Dimitris Leventis were not in good form during the whole tournament.
* Greece played in phase 16 against Germany, exactly as in miniEURO 2013. The players were extremely anxious in order to take their revenge, but after the first 15 minutes of the game that were dominant, they completely lost the control of the match and especially after the 1st goal, they were psychologically destroyed. Finally the 4-0 was the biggest defeat in the team’s history.
Al of which means there is plenty to learn and to build on in 2015!
