Sokol BK Sadros Boskovice – minifootball Champion of the Czech Republic for 2014

For just the second time in a history, the Czech minifootball Championship was played by the system of qualifications, culminating in a final tournament called final four. This year it introduced three newcomers. But in two of the three cases were not about newcomers at the national scene. FC Laguna Pardubice won the Championship in 2006, FC Union Brdy in 2008 and 2009. The third of the newcomers was Sokol BK Sadros Boskovice, this was a suprise package, and a team that no one knew before, but it has to change dramatically. The last finalist was RKM Brno, Czech Champion of 2013, who also won in domestic Championship in Brno in 2010. According to these facts evevryone picked their favourites before the games began were handed out clearly before the tournament, but as it turned out, sport, in this case minifootball, can be very hard to predict.

The first semifinals introduced FC Laguna Pardubice against Sokol BK Sadros Boskovice. After a goalless first half in which Boskovice had more of the game, they finally made their class tell in the second period. Laguna fans didn´t have to wait a long time for equalizing goal, though. After sixty minutes of the game was locked at 1:1. No goals came even in extra time and about advancing to the final had to decide penalty kicks.Sokol BK Sadros Boskovice scored all three penalties, while Laguna Pardubice managed only two. After the result 1:2p Boskovice look forward to a title fight, Laguna played for third place.

The second advancing to the final was RKM Brno after beating FC Union Brdy Příbram 7:2. The first half ended in a 1:1 draw, but then the defending champion launched a cannonade and got a clear victory. The match did not lack tough tackling, as evidenced by three red cards, two on Příbram side, one on the side of Brno.

FC Union Brdy finished up in the third place when they facved a repeat of the match in the Prague qualifying group with FC Laguna Pardubice. This time Příbram won 2:1.

The final was purely Moravian match between Sokol BK Sadros Boskovice and RKM Brno. Boskovice ran out with an unexpectedly high victory 8:2. RKM scored their first goals when their rival led 7:0. After reducing on 7:2, Sokol had closed the score a few minutes before the end. The whole Boskovice is celebrating their premiere Championship title and also the first title for the team from the Minifootball Association in Blansko.
